3.3 writers frequently ask 'what is the point of writing'

One question frequently asked, especially by newer writers, is what is the point of writing? What is the point of all the struggle if I never get published. What if no one reads my book?

Kristine Kathryn Rusch says the point of writing is two-fold:

  1. To do something you, love, which should be reason enough on its own. And,
  2. To put your perspective out into the world.

It doesn't matter that everything has been written before, it hasn't been written by YOU. There is no one else in the world that is like you, and it is bringing that uniqueness to your writing that is the whole point.
