One issue with ADHD is difficulties with object permanence and working memory. ADHDers are very much out of sight, out of mind which is why visual cues or reminders are so important.

One way to ensure that important objects remain in an ADHDers working memory is through the use of open storage i.e. storage that is clear fronted or has no doors, drawers or secret compartments. That way whatever is being stored always remains visible and it's harder to forget about its existence.

One way I've incorporated open storage into my own life if by getting rid of my wardrobe. Instead, my clothes get hung on a rail, or else folded an placed on a set of shelves. Smaller items, such as socks and underwear, are kept in bins either on my shelves (underwear) or in a communal area (socks). That way I maintain a visual reminder of what clothes I own and also get a visual cue when I desperately need to do laundry.
