7.1a if people are the fruit of the universe then we have the potential to become our own universe

“This tree apples”—using “apples” as a verb. And so in precisely the same way that an apple tree “apples,” we are living in a universe which “peoples.”
Alan Watts

One implication of this quote that I quite like is that, if people are the fruit of the universe, then we have within us the capacity to create new universes, just as an apple has the capacity within it to create new apple trees. Perhaps, like an apple, a person requires the right environment in order to do so, whatever the spiritual equivalent of good soil, rain and sunshine are, but that potential exists within us, nonetheless.

And it makes me wonder if the universe we currently live in is the result of some fruit of a previous universe reaching maturity. Is that what god is? A person who, through the right conditions and nurturing, has grown into a universe of their own. That's a question I don't have an answer to.
