Tasting notes

Brewing temperature:: 80° C
Weight:: 3 g
Volume:: 250 ml

Steep time:: 2 m
- Beautiful whole green leaves
- Soft vegetal scent to the wet leaves and liquor
- maybe a little bit of the umami i keep hearing green teas can have
- Brewed up a light green-yellow liquor
- Very light flavour, still vegetal
- absolutely none of the bitterness or astringency I've had problems with green tea in the past
- cooling almost floral after taste
- Might up the brewing time to three minutes
Second brew
Brewing method:: Western
Brewing temperature:: 80° C
Weight:: 3 g
Volume:: 250 ml
Rinse::
Steep time:: 3 m
- same soft vegetal scent as before - not 100% sure i like it. it makes me go hmmm? every time
- stronger taste than before
- a couple of notes that could almost be bitterness or astringency.
- grows as the tea cools
- might try again at 2 minute steep
- previous weak taste could have been due to inaccurate weighing
- it did seem like there were more leaves in the strainer this time
- previous weak taste could have been due to inaccurate weighing
- If 2 m in still too week then I need a digital timer to try 2 m 30
Really enjoyed drinking this one grandpa style: just chucking 2.5-3 g of leaves and adding 500 ml or so of 70° C water worked really well. Really tasty, unfussy tea.
